Loire-Anjou-Touraine Regional Natural Park

The Loire-Anjou-Touraine Regional Natural Park, the first park created within the Loire Valley’s UNESCO World Heritage Site, is located where the historic counties of Anjou and Touraine meet.

Loire-Anjou-Touraine Regional Natural Park

The park covers magnificent parts beside the Loire and its main tributaries, and boasts an extraordinarily rich natural, cultural and historic heritage.

For nature lovers, there are some 200 species of birds to identify, or then go in search of the European beaver, reintroduced in the 1970s, and now repopulating both the Loire and its tributaries. In the water, salmon and shad are two iconic species of fish to be found in the Loire.

The  House of Park can suggest discovery outings, nature trails to follow, sights to see and even accommodation in special nature and heritage spots within the park.

The House de Loire in Anjou visitor centre puts to the fore the many different aspects of France’s most majestic river, covering the people who have lived beside the Loire, the livelihoods associated with the river, and the gorgeous riverine setting, for example through images. Sign up for lively guided walking tours through the vicinity, in landscapes that have been designated part of the Loire Valley’s UNESCO World Heritage Site.
