In 1811, Jean-Baptiste Ackerman, a pioneer of fine bubbly wines in the Loire, founded the illustrious House in spectacular cellars dug into the tufa rock. He pioneered the production of Saumur Brut and Crémant de Loire using the traditional method.
Discover the mysteries of the vine, the traditional method and the history of the Ackerman House on an educational, fun and dreamlike tour.
Discover a unique scenography, and let yourself be won over by the magic of the encounter between wine and art. Maison Ackerman has joined forces with Fontevraud Abbey to welcome artists whose ephemeral works of art enhance the troglodytic galleries.
The tour is punctuated by videos, activities and games for all the family.
A unique and fascinating experience in the heart of the highest cellars in the Saumur region.
At the end of the tour, you'll be offered a tasting of the House's emblematic cuvées. Children are offered sparkling grape juice.
The shop and the entire tour are accessible to people with reduced mobility. The tour is on one level and has a level surface. The temperature in the cellars is 12°C all year round. Don't forget to bring warm clothing. The tour is around 500 metres underground, with no view of the outside, and lasts approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour.
Last visit 1h30 before closing time.
Throughout the year, several events punctuate the programming of the Caves Ackerman: "Les Scènes Musicales", an original "concert and wine" combination, every 3rd Friday of the month, from June to September, "Divin Chocolat", the Saumur chocolate fair for over 10 years, 1st weekend in December, "Divin Fromage" in March, "Master Chai" a special tasting session with the cellar managers and oenologists, etc. The cellars are fully accessible
