La Roche d'Oëtre Belvedere

La Roche d’Oëtre offers one of the most grandiose viewing points in northwest France. It’s listed as an Environmentally Protected Area, set in the heart of Europe’s oldest, if now worn down, mountain range.

La Roche d'Oëtre Belvedere

La Roche d’Oëtre, measuring 118 m at its highest point, presents a grand panorama onto the wooded gorges of the Rouvre, a tributary of the Orne. The Rouvre, after heading 40km from its source, spends much of its energy cutting through the tough rock of the Massif Armoricain, an ancient granite landmass in the northwest corner of France.

The Rouvre’s remarkably picturesque valley counts among the highlights of the whole Suisse Normande area. Striking slopes alternate with typical countryside and pastures divided up by hedgerows and dry stone walls.
