Weather on La Vélo Francette

In spring, summer and autumn, the weather should normally be good for cycling. However, it is worth checking in advance on specific conditions and following sensible guidelines.

Given that La Vélo Francette runs along beside many rivers, between December and May, it is recommended that you check in advance with tourist offices as to whether the greenways in their area are practicable.

5 pieces of advice so that you’re not caught out by unexpected weather conditions

1) Always have a Plan B in case of bad weather; for example, using the local train network may be a suitable option.

2) Take clothes made from breathable material specially adapted to outdoor activities, as they’re the most suitable

3) Wear layers, following the principle of three layers:

- 1 inner layer that guards against sweating, absorbing any humidity and drying fast.

- 1 middle layer that keeps you warm, transfers humidity to the outer layer and that dries fast.

- 1 outer layer to protect you from the wind, help get rid of sweat and protect you from the rain.

4)If you are tackling the whole cycle route, think of equipping yourself with suitable gloves, cycling shorts and cycling shoes.

5)Remember to have sun glasses with you and think to put on sun lotion even if the weather is cloudy.

Look up the weather forecast before setting out on your cycle trip.
