Along the canals of the Poitevin Marshlands, you will travel along the Vélo Francette route, along the meanders of the Sèvre Niortaise where the numerous attractive spots invite you to take a break. Here the routes are flat and perfectly suited to families. Here is an example of a route with your children:
Day 1: From Damvix to Marans (22 km)
The Sèvre niortaise is your lifeline along this stage, as you will only leave it twice for the Nouveau Béjou canal and the Pomère canal. The route is punctuated by the ballet of the skiffs going to discover the wet marshes.
The town of Marans, dominated by its glass and steel bell tower will be your reward as you arrive by the quays, following the canals. Pedal up to the sailing base to discover the boats and history of the port!
Get lost in the small lanes and you will quickly come under its charm!
Go to Marans Tourist Office to pick up your town discovery booklet! It is free and lets you discover the town differently.
Once the evening comes, after a day on your bicycle, have a welcome rest at MaransClos de Beauregard. The Accueil Vélo labelled guest house offers calm and serenity. As a bonus, Françoise offers her guest table based on organic products. So you don't even need to think about finding a restaurant, just stay snuggled up and make yourself at home!

Day 2: Return to Damvix (22 km)
After a hearty, organic breakfast, get back on your bikes to go in the opposite direction.
Take a picnic and stop on the banks of the Sèvre at Les Combrands, in the town of Taugon. This is an ideal place and our "coup de coeur"!
After lunch, take your children to visit the Pôle Nature du Marais Poitevinin Taugon: its scenography will take you for a trip through the Poitevin Marshlands, and your children will be delighted to discover the fun, interactive discovery trail.
